The Early Days…

  • 1977: Ed Leslie began his wrestling career teaming with Hulk Hogan in smaller promotions around the country.

World Wrestling Federation

  • Ed Leslie joined the World Wrestling Federation and became known as Brutus Beefcake (a male stripper).
  • 1984: Brutus Beefcake first appeared by walking out to the ring during squash matches by various babyface wrestlers.
  • ~~~Brutus Beefcake made it known that he was looking for a manager, so all the managers began offering themselves to him.
  • ~~~Brutus Beefcake would eventually choose “Luscious” Johnny Valiant to be his manager and guide his wrestling career.
  • ~~~Brutus Beefcake’s gimmick was originally portrayed as a male stripper, and included a lenthy video of him stripping at a bar.
  • March 31, 1985 – WrestleMania: Brutus Beefcake w/Johnny V vs. David Sammartino w/Bruno Sammartino ended in a No Contest.

World Wrestling Federation – The Dream Team

  • Brutus Beefcake formed a tag team with Greg Valentine known as Dream Team still managed by Luscious Johnny V..
  • October 3, 1985 – Saturday Night Main Event: Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine defeated Lanny Poffo and Tony Garea.
  • April 7, 1986 – WrestleMania 2: The British Bulldogs (w/Ozzy Osbourne) beat The Dream Team to win the WWF Tag Team titles.
  • August 28, 1986 – The Big Event: The Rougeau Brothers defeated The Dream Team (Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake).
  • October 4, 1986 – SNME: The British Bulldogs defeated Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine in a 2/3 falls match.

  • Brutus Beefcake tried to join the new World order thinking he could bury the hatchet with his old friend Hollywood Hogan.
  • Hulk Hogan rejected Brutus Beefcake – and attacked the humbled Beefcake along with stablemates Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.
  • Brutus Beefcale popped up a year later as a member of nWo Hollywood (no explaination), with a beard known as “The Disciple”.
  • ~The Disciple gimmick was a take-off of the WWF’s Disciples of Apocalypse, even naming his finishing move “The Apocalypse”.
  • ~~~The Disciple was once again the sidekick (or disciple) of Hollywood Hulk Hogan, doing all the dirty work.
  • When the nWo fizzled out, The Disciple became an average WCW jobber, even wrestling under his real name, Ed Leslie.
